Goal: To plant many trees as much as we can. Earthsphere
has a program in five years and every five years thereafter
to provide oxygen, at least for the Pacific rim and hopefully
the whole world as well. Part of our goal is to equalize the
emission of carbon dioxide, methane and other harmful Greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere by heavy manufacturing industries.
If sustained, the project could serve as "breathing apparatus"
that could help prevent further destruction of ozone layers
and will help restrain the "global warming" and
the " green house effect " that our planet is confronted
with.
Every man today is responsible for generating carbon emissions
- through the gas they use in their vehicles, during the manufacturing
process of products they make, or by the papers they consume,
and many others. While we often take these activities for
granted, they are some of the many factors leading to the
Global Warming.
As a particular example, one gallon of gas produces twenty
pounds of Carbon Dioxide. A typical car burns over 500 gallons
of gas a year and emits over five tons of Carbon Dioxide!
Similarly, the typical person uses 613 pounds of paper every
year - about three trees worth. We all contribute to Global
Warming. Now we can do something about it for very little
cost...
To help restore the denuded virgin forests of the world,
for a global, sustainable ecological balance and to reduce
the number of ecological hotspots in the world- places that
are experiencing alarming threats of habitat destruction.
In the Philippines alone, the country used to have about 28
million hectares of fresh, virgin forests until 1930's. But
due to unabated massive cutting of trees, today it only have
a measly 2 million hectares left. What indeed a destruction
of nature's gift to mankind.
Project Plan: The tree planting is done at 1,000 tress/hectare
for a 5-year module, utilizing permit-secured government public
lands for free use. The tree specie to be used will be "
Bagras" (international name: kamarere) known as the fastest-growing
forest timber. It only cost $2 to fully grow in 7 to 12 years.
The five-year tree planting plan is broken down as follows:
1st year : 150 hectares 150,000 trees
2nd year: 150 hectares 150,000 trees
3rd year: 200 hectares 200,000 trees
4th year: 200 hectares 200,000 trees
5th year: 300 hectares 300,000 trees
________________________________
1,000 hectares 1,000,000 trees Total
Prognosis: When the five-year tree planting plan is completed,
another 1 million trees in a five-year plan will be undertaken.
On the tenth year, the first 150 hectares shall be harvested,
to finance the planting of the succeeding 1 million trees
to complete a "self-sustaining" and a "growing"
cycle.
