PATIENTS' FEEDBACK

Testimony of son of a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patient, Nov. 3, 1999

My father, Chua Lai Gao, of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, a chainsmoker, got sick of asthma in 1994 at the age of 74. In 1995, his condition became serious - he became very breathless - that he was in and out of various hospitals in San Jose, Occ. Mindoro. Later, we brought him to the Medical City in Pasig City where he was confined for about 2 weeks, and diagnosed as a case of Chronic Bronchitis/Emphysema. His condition worsened that we transferred him to the Lung Center in Quezon City. After many days at the Lung Center, his condition never improved that his attending physician, a pulmonologist, advised us to bring him home to wait until his time comes to meet the Lord.

At this point we decided to seek the help of Dr. Robin B. Navarro. My father was bedridden, being nebulized every 30 minutes and with continuous oxygen inhalation when Dr. Navarro arrived. Dr. Navarro treated him with a rapid "balancing" solution and the next morning, to our surprise, he went down from the second floor and took his breakfast.

My father, now 78, is up and about and was never hospitalized since Dr. Navarro attended to him. He usually spends much of his time strolling along the plaza. He is still up to the present under the medical care of Dr. Navarro.

Testimony of a hopeless Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)Patient, Nov. 16, 1999

I work as a field inspector of a sugar cane farm - the Central Azucarera de Tarlac (CAT) - when I contracted asthma in 1995 at the age of 58. I was hospitalized and diagnosed as a case of Chronic Bronchitis/Emphysema. This was followed by a series of hospitalization because of exacerbation of my condition; and in 1996 through 1997, I was hospitalized twenty-two (22) times. Sometime in 1997, I had another serious attack, very breathless - a condition which would require another hospitalization - but thanks God, Dr Navarro was around, being a visiting consultant of St. Martin de Porres Hospital in CAT. I consulted him and after treating me with a rapid "balancing" solution, I was able to walk my way home.

Eversince, I have never been hospitalized and could do a lot of household chores. I still continue to consult with Dr. Navarro.

Testimony of an asthmatic Filipino immigrant from Guam,
December 19, 1999

I was 65 years old when I had my first asthma attack, that was in 1995. In 1996, my condition became very serious that I used to be hospitalized twice a month and four times at ICU under the care of a pulmonologist and an internist. This continued hospitalization lasted for more than a year until I was treated by Dr. Navarro. Eversince, I have never been hospitalized and has improved dramatically. I am now back to work doing my clinic routines as a radiologist and a GP.

Letter to Dr. Navarro of a 'Once hopeless case of asthma,
March 7, 1997

Dear Doctor,

Greetings!
Let me take this chance to convey my sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonders done on my health. You're my "miracle worker". But of course, you didn't know that. You treated all your patients in equal measure. In my case, I came at time when I was at the pit of the doldrums and suffering the severe attacks of asthma. Everything was to so hopeless for me that going to another doctor won't simply help. Thanks to my sister, she prodded me to try going to you. After my first treatment, I knew that I had the hope of getting rid of my childhood sickness. I was given a new leaf in life, new confidence and new beginnings. I could have been cured much earlier, but you treated me at a most opportune time as well. I was able to push through with my plans without a hitch. For this, I will forever owe you a debt of gratitude. Overcoming this illness was the greatest thing that I have ever done for myself so far. Without you, your wisdom, and your "magic medicines", I couldn't have done it myself. I greatly appreciate your patience whenever I have to drink the bitter liquid and the candor in dealing with my problem. It is for all these reasons that I never hesitate to strongly recommend you to all the friends and colleagues suffering from asthma and arthritis. I'm sure your countless patients also feel the same way in their treatments. My testimony is just but one of the success stories all the patients share with me.

May the giant breakthrough you've achieved in your profession serve to help more patients in dire need of your medical expertise.
My best wishes to you and your staffs.

Testimony of an asthmatic Filipino immigrant from Guam,
December 19, 1999

I was 58 years old and in a good state of health when I went to Guam to work as a landscaper in 1986. There I felt my first mild attack of asthma, perhaps on account of the agricultural chemicals I used in controlling weeds. This mild or on and off breathlessness continued for several years without medication. Then in July 1997 after heavy pesticide spraying, I became very breathless that I was rushed to the Guam Memorial Hospital where I was confined for 5 days. I was discharged still very breathless that I was advised by my relatives to go back to the Philippines for treatment.
In the Philippines, I went into a series of hospitalization: twice at the Perpetual Help Hospital in Malasiqui, Pangasinan, once at the Pangasinan Medical Center under two cardiologists and twice at Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan City under the care of a pulmonologist. It was in my second hospitalization at Villaflor Hospital that I was brought to the ICU unconscious because of cardiac arrest. On discharge, the breathlessness continued that I felt it was like the "end of the world" even just to urinate. My neck and chest muscles would contract forcefully just to get a few gasps of air and my fingers and lips were bluish due to poor oxygenation. I have given up all hope already until Dr. Tony Uson referred me to Dr. Robin B. Navarro.
I was brought to the Specialist Group Hospital per wheelchair on November 1998 and was confined there for one week under the care of Dr. Navarro. One week after discharge, I went to see Dr. Navarro for check-up and he was shocked to see me walking and no longer breathless. I felt like God's promise of healing was granted to me.
Now, at 70, it's more than a year that I have never been hospitalized. I could do a lot of odd jobs at home like gardening and herding the carabaos in the field.
